Laundry cleaning tips

Well, I'm already assuming that you have a washing machine so one of the most important things when doing the laundry is that you should not put too much detergent. But not too little either.

How much detergent

Detergent
With the introduction of the new concentrated detergents you should pay attention to how much you put in. Most laundry detergents should have their own how much to put in on their box so make sure that you follow those instructions.

If the instructions are not clear, I would recommend switching to a better detergent that has clear instructions on the box. Some detergents would state on the box that few cups or spoons are needed but these can vary in size and there should be clear instructions on how many grams is each spoon as different sized spoons exist.

Things to check before you do your laundry:

  • Make sure that you are using not too much of the detergent because if you do, there might be residue on your clothes and your clothes might end up not as clean compared to if you used less detergent.
  • Make sure you read the labels on the clothes and follow them trough.
  • Separate the clothes that are of different colors and try to follow instructions so that they would not leak the color onto other clothes.
  • Clean the stains prior to putting the laundry to the washing machine if the stain was hard and could not be washed by a laundry machine.
  • Clean the washing machine filter and the washing machine itself from time to time. If you miss on doing this, the filter on your washing machine may clog and leave residue in your laundry. Try to clean the filter once a month if you use the machine not that often.
  • And at the end make sure to hand wash the clothes if you have such clothes that require hand washing.
